How to Get Into Edinburgh From the Airport

by Kelly on July 7, 2013

The Edinburgh Airport is 8 miles outside of the city center. What’s the easiest and most cost-effective way to get to the city from the airport? Read on to find out!

Rental Cars

You can hire rental cars from a location just near the airport and there’s plenty of parking at Edinburgh Airport when you return! If you’re planning on driving around Scotland, this is a great option. If you’re just hoping to take the car out for a few days during your trip but would like to have it as an option down the road, look into airport parking. Some options may be less than the cost of gas! The scenery throughout the country is gorgeous and having the freedom to go where you want is a huge plus!

Taxi

You can either take a black cab from from outside the terminal for UK arrivals, or, you can pre-arrange a car. It will take you about 25 minutes to get into the city and will cost between 15 and 30 Euros.

Bus

If you’re up for taking the bus, the #100 bus will take you into the city center in the same amount of time for 3.50 Euros (2 Euros for kids). The bus runs continually every 15 minutes and will take you through various points of the city up to Waverley Station.

Driving into Edinburgh but don’t want to deal with having to drive and park around the city? Look into Edinburgh airport parking for great rates, and take public transport from there.

Edinburgh, Scotland is gorgeous. Have you been? What are your favorite attractions?
