A Guide to Packing: Traveler Tips

0

It’s the age-old question that nearly all women have asked themselves: What should I pack for my trip? If you’re a seasoned traveler, you know the frustrations of overpacking and struggling to haul your luggage along, but there’s also the risk of packing too light and forgetting some essentials. Trying to find a balance that doesn’t hinder your journey isn’t always easy, but it is possible. Here are a few tips should you find yourself in a similar scenario.

A Sturdy Backpack

Depending on where you’re going and how long you’re going for, you’ll need a practical backpack that’s going to last. Don’t go cheap; instead, pay a little extra to make sure you find something durable. It’s an investment worth making in the long run, as you can keep on moving without having to worry if you’re secure. Plus, if you’re flying, you can keep your backpack on the plane with you as carry-on, preventing another worry.

Clothing

It’s possible to travel and still look put-together. You don’t need to go overboard on outfits, but neither do you need to forgo style for comfort. Simply try to stick to low-maintenance clothing (for example, items that don’t require dry-cleaning) and think about how you can mix and match your outfits, depending on the day. Avoid bringing outfits you’re only planning to wear once, as they’ll just take up space. Remember, you can always buy new clothes on your travels.

Underwear

If there’s one area where you do want to prioritize comfort, it’s your underwear. For hygiene reasons, it’s best to bring plenty of underwear, as you may not always have the time to wash and dry them. Try keeping your dirty underwear separate in a smaller bag to go in your backpack. It’s up to you what underwear you pack but note that it’s often worth including a sports bra if your travels include long excursions.

Footwear

The last thing you want on your travels is blistered feet, so invest in some decent travel shoes. You can still pack sandals and flip flops for more leisurely events, but make sure you have a pair of walking boots and trainers. Additionally, try breaking them in before your trip – your feet will thank you later!

Toiletries

Depending on how high maintenance your beauty regime is, your list of must-have toiletries will vary. The good thing is that it’s fairly easy to buy basic toiletries abroad. One item that has proved popular with female travelers is the hanging toiletry bag, which is a very practical accessory. If you find yourself in less spacious conditions than normal, then this bag will give you some extra storage space.

Safety Alarm

You’ve heard of pepper spray and mace, but have you heard of a safety alarm? They’re generally small models that can attach to your backpack or keyring without looking obvious and give off a loud noise when activated.
