I’ve spent a lot of time in Buenos Aires, even before we got to writing our women’s guidebook to Argentina. From guesthouses, to estancias, to private apartments and hotels, I’ve seen my fair share of all of the accommodation options the country has to offer, and I’d like to cordially introduce you to what I believe to be the hottest new hotel in Buenos Aires: The Buenos Aires Grand.
The BA Grand, a hotel located in the heart of Recoleta just a few blocks away from the famous Recoleta cemetery, opened just last month and is already becoming well-known as a luxury retreat for travelers and business professionals.
As we checked in, I instantly felt underdressed—the place oozes class and sophistication and after three month of non-stop travel, the few clothes I have without holes in them are not all that jazzy. But, the women who handled our check-in were very friendly and put my mind at ease.
The BA Grand is a relatively small hotel, but it has all of the comforts of five-star accommodation—friendly service, a killer breakfast (included), plush slippers and bathrobes in your room. It even has a pool on the roof of the hotel, which sadly was not yet completed at the time of my stay (but I got a sneak peek and wow, what a view).
The BA Grand also clearly has a business traveler in mind—their internet was fast and free throughout the hotel, something this busy blogger really appreciates.
Most places in South America offer “breakfast” with your stay, but that “breakfast” usually consists of a few pieces of toast, jam, and tea or coffee. I wasn’t expecting anything more at breakfast from this hotel (okay, maybe just a tad more) but I was blown away by what I saw in the morning: a full spread of fresh fruits, salmons, meats, cheese, breads, croissants, medialunas, cereal and yogurts. Plus, a hot menu that you order from with a waiter, that includes French toast, eggs any style, pancakes and more. It was amazing.
If you’re looking for a great place to stay in a central, safe part of Buenos Aires, I highly recommend the Buenos Aires Grand. I’ve personally recommended it to a close friend already, who booked the hotel for his honeymoon. It’s certainly not a dingy budget hotel, of which there are many in BA, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for.
Full disclosure: We were offered a one-night complimentary stay at the BA Grand. However, all opinions expressed are our own. It’s really a great hotel.
