Three Books That Will Inspire You To Travel

If you have found yourself in travel slump, I have just the remedy: go tothe bookstore, look for the travel section, and dive headfirst into an adventure-packed, eye-opening, emotional-gripping travel novel. I bet just skimming the back-cover synopsis will start to tickle your travel bug again.

I have few suggestions of for perfect travel novels that will enthuse to motivate, and inspire a trip of a lifetime.

Tales of a Female Nomad: Living at Large in the World

A riveting and moving tale by Rita Golden Gelman, tells the story about a woman who leaves a luxurious life behind in the states to quench her wandering spirit in a journey through Mexico, Guatemala, the Galapagos Islands and other rustic and regal places all over the world. She tells her story  through a very candid and honest tone, revealing bluntly what it’s like to travel into other cultures as a privileged American -which is not always looked upon fondly by others.

Who should read this?

Those female wanderers that feel stuck in a rut, whether it be a relationship that has gone stale, or a job that no longer suits. This is the perfect novel to encourage you to take a risk and travel solo into the unknown.

Under the Tuscan Sun

You may have already seen this movie which is just as delightful, this book is an easy read filled with all the tastes and savors you would imagine among a tucked-away village in the Tuscan Countryside. We follow author Frances Mayes, in a memoir about revitalizing a neglected villa in the enchanting landscape of Tuscany, Italy.  She ignites all of our senses by painting a story with her voice that will have the palate salivating of any born-traveler.

Who should read this?

If you are looking for light-hearted yet fantastically inspiring and entertaining inspirational memoir, this is the perfect novel for you.  Perhaps you are considering traveling to Italy but have not quite saved enough, or gained enough courage to do so, this book will provide the springboard of inspiration to do so!

Born to Run

Completely unexpected and the type of novel that will have you licking your fingertips to compulsively turn the page, you will find all the adventure and mystery in Christopher McDougall’s memoir, Born to Run.  In this National Best Seller, McDougall, a born athlete and retired runner sets sail to Mexico’s remote villages of Copper Canyon, “Barranca del Cobre” to unveil the mystery of the Tarahumara Indians who have been reputed to run ultra marathons bare-footed and without common ailment.  It provides a heart-pounding plot, and an accurate depiction of this mysterious indigenous tribe that truly are : born to run.
